Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried,  press service of the Armenian government informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Pashinyan highlighted the importance of the ongoing development and expansion of U.S.-Armenia relations. He also praised the U.S. for helping the Armenian government effectively advance democratic reforms, adding that the development of democracy is a top priority for the executive branch.

In her turn, Donfrid said that the US Administration also attaches great importance to the expansion and strengthening of cooperation with Armenia in different directions, therefore the support to the development of democratic institutions in Armenia will be of continuous nature.

The interlocutors also touched upon the developments in the South Caucasus region, settlement of the Karabakh conflict, activities of the commission of demarcation and security of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Armenian Prime Minister highlighted the importance of strengthening peace and stability in the region and underlined the need for a proportional response of the international community to the provocative statements and actions, which undermine regional stability. At the same time, he mentioned the key role of the U.S. as an OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing country and emphasized the importance of a comprehensive settlement of the Karabakh conflict in the framework of the Minsk Group co-chairmanship.
