Tigran Avinyan, the former Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, has been appointed Deputy Mayor of Yerevan. A total of 44 members of the Yerevan Council of Elders voted in favor of his respective candidacy at Friday’s special session of the council.
Avinyan will coordinate the city hall’s work with the Yerevan district heads and the Armenian government, as well as the work of construction improvement, landscaping, and culture.
At the moment, Yerevan has five deputy mayors.
The next elections of the Yerevan Council of Elders will take place in the fall of 2023. And the ruling Civil Contract Party has announced that it will nominate Tigran Avinyan as the new Mayor of Yerevan in these elections.
