The rector of Valery Brusov State University of linguistics of Armenia said she heard Tuesday the small report on Public TV, and the statements that there are underground currents in the matter, that this is an attempt to manipulate students. Karine Harutyunyan announced this during Wednesday’s extended meeting of the university's academic board.

"I want to inform everyone with full responsibility that yes, during my meeting with the education minister before the session on October 14, he offered me to occupy a high position in the university being newly formed. I refused it, I said it was out of the question. Now I declare again with full responsibility that I am not going to occupy any position in the institute being newly formed

I have noted that this is not a personal issue, that there are no underground movements here, I believe it is not possible to manipulate so many students and professors. I said that I am here, I am appointed rector to protect the interests of this university, I stand with the students and the entire staff," the rector declared.

The government has come up with a new initiative according to which Valery Brusov State University, as well as the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture, will be joined to the Armenian State Pedagogical University.
