Armenian and Iranian foreign ministers discussed the situation related to regional security and stability in Yerevan.

"Today with my good friend Mr. Abdollahian we noted with satisfaction that the relations between our two countries are based not only on the millennial friendship and brotherhood of our peoples, but also on a deep understanding of our common state interests, and they are consistently deepening in various areas. The key topic of our discussions has naturally been the situation related to regional security and stability. I presented my colleague details related to the development of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace treaty, and naturally touched upon the details and consequences of the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia on September 13-14. I reiterated the urgent need for the withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from the sovereign territory of Armenia, release and repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war illegally held in Azerbaijan, clarification of the fate of victims of enforced disappearances and compliance with ceasefire," Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said after the meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

Mirzoyan said they agreed that conflicts between countries in the region should be resolved through negotiations and constructive dialogue, excluding the use or threat of force.

"We highly appreciate friendly Iran's principled and clear position on Armenia's territorial integrity, as well as the Iranian side's efforts to establish peace and stability in the region," Mirzoyan said.

The Armenian Foreign Minister noted that during the meeting issues related to cooperation on both bilateral and multilateral platforms were discussed, and expressed readiness to enrich the Armenian-Iranian agenda with joint efforts.
