Interpol Secretary General Jurgen Stock paid a two-day visit to Armenia on Thursday at the invitation of Police Chief Vahe Ghazaryan, the press service of the Armenian Police Ministry informed NEWS.am.
Ghazaryan and Stock laid a wreath at the memorial wall for the police officers killed in the line of duty.
The Police Chief praised Interpol's role and contribution to the fight against international crime and recalled that 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Interpol's National Central Bureau in Armenia.
According to him, there is active cooperation in the spheres of combating cybercrime, drug trafficking, organized crime and so on.
Stock stated that the guarantee of Interpol's effective work is the close cooperation of the Interpol national central bureaus in the member states.
During the meeting Ghazaryan awarded the Secretary General of Interpol with the Medal for Strengthening Cooperation.
Mr. Stock, accompanied by Mr. Ghazaryan, visited the Interpol National Central Bureau in Armenia where the head of the Armenian Police stressed that the Bureau in Armenia has taken its unique place in the fight against international crime.
