The Armenian leadership has the political will to solve the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in Sochi, opening a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"The conflict has lasted for decades. We have to end it. I know that you have a political will for that. We support it in every possible way. We need to find the key points that will allow us to move forward," Putin said, RIA Novosti reported.

The Russian president expressed the hope that the talks in Sochi would be another opportunity to discuss the current situation.

He added that the most important thing now is to achieve peace and create conditions for economic development: This was also the goal in November 2020 when we had to stop the fighting.

The Russian leader expressed his hope that it would be possible to move forward after the meeting.

He said that Russia proceeds from the fact that Armenia is a strategic ally and partner since ancient times.

"We see our colleagues' approaches to what is happening on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and around Karabakh. This conflict has been going on for a decade. So we have to end it at some point, do you agree with that? I know that you have the political will to do that. And we support this in every possible way. We must find the key points that will allow us to move forward in a trilateral format," the Russian leader added.
