The presence of the monitoring mission is one of the reasons why Azerbaijan has reduced the firing in the direction of Gegharkunik Province of Armenia, Gegharkunik governor Karen Sargsyan told reporters Monday.

"They [i.e., the monitoring mission] have one headquarters, but they carry out the mission along the entire area where the [Azerbaijani military] aggression was committed [against Armenia]. The mission consists of eight people; they will present a report. Among the observers there are people who have made records and are sure that Azerbaijan has carried out aggression against the territory of Armenia and that it has occupied territories from Armenia," said Sargsyan.

According to the governor of Gegharkunik, most of the province’s displaced families have returned, but mostly the Kutakan and Sotk villages’ residents , whose houses were severely damaged as a result of the aforesaid military aggression, have not returned yet.

"We have houses in Sotk that are completely collapsed and cannot be lived in. But we have rented houses for them to live there until the houses are restored. There have been pasture issues since May 2021. There have been cases of farmers compulsorily taking their livestock for slaughter; but as of this year there are no documented cases. After September, there were farms that wanted to sell their livestock; but we had meetings, discussions with them. At the moment, the number of farms in the province has not decreased," said the governor of Gegharkunik.
