The presence of the EU observation mission in Armenia is not a cause for concern in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told Armenia's first Public TV Channel on Friday

"During the meeting between me and Ebrahim Raisi, no such issue was raised. In fact, the West has always been present in the Republic of Armenia. I think the explanations we gave are sufficient for Iran. I do not have the impression that the presence of a civilian mission causes any anxiety in IRI. It's the presence of other actors in our region that bothers Iran, and they are not in the territory of the Republic of Armenia," Pashinyan said.

He once again stressed and highly assessed the presence of the EU observation mission. According to him, the main purpose of this mission is not to make daily statements about shots fired. "I think they should draw deeper conclusions and convey them to the officials involved in the delimitation process and the international community. I'm sure those conclusions will be objective. They don't monitor the ceasefire, the meaning of their mission is much deeper," Pashinyan said.

Pashinyan also believes that Iran and Azerbaijan are friendly countries linked by very deep cultural and economic ties that can argue, but one should not look for exaggerations in this. "The IRI is a very important player in international and regional politics, and we work very closely with our Iranian partners. There are very important details, and there should be questions and answers when communicating. It is very important for us to develop relations and we are going this way," he stressed.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers also touched upon the subject of power lines. According to him, the power lines that exist between Armenia and Iran are overloaded, so a third line is also needed. "We take gas from the IRI, produce electricity and return it to the Iranians. In order for us to consume more gas instead of exporting electricity, we should be able to export more to Iran, and we will get this opportunity after the third power line is completed," Pashinyan concluded.
