Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the 18th Summit of the International Organization of the Francophonie in Tunis.

During the meeting, the parties discussed various aspects of the Armenian-Canadian relations, the press service of the Armenian government informed NEWS.am. In this regard, Canadian government's decision to open a Canadian embassy in Armenia was of paramount importance for the talks between Nikol Pashinyan and Justin Trudeau. The sides expressed confidence that the activities of the Canadian Embassy in Yerevan will give a new impulse to the expansion and deepening of bilateral political and economic relations.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the ongoing support of Canada for the reforms agenda aimed at the development and strengthening of democracy in Armenia.

Trudeau expressed the willingness and interest of the Canadian government to contribute to the effective implementation of the institutional reforms in our country and the development of bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting the expansion of Canadian investments in Armenia was also discussed.

Pashinyan presented Trudeau the consequences of the Azerbaijani aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia and the position of the Armenian side towards their liquidation. Views were exchanged on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, the processes taking place in the South Caucasus, as well as various issues of mutual interest.
