More than 300 thousand people from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and some other countries have arrived in Armenia since the beginning of the year, economist Tatul Manaseryan told a press conference Tuesday.
According to him, this number is 10 percent of the total population of Armenia, and therefore this will have an effect on and ensure a double-digit growth and impact the growth of tax revenues in the country.
"Are we able to reduce the level of poverty [in Armenia] under such conditions? At the end of the year, the poverty level reaches 42 percent; this is scary. People sleep on the ground. Every second person in Armenia is poor," Manaseryan said.
"The [Armenian state] budget would be lauded if it promoted employment, reduced unemployment, prepared qualified personnel for the economy," the economist added.
