Both sides (i.e. Armenia and Azerbaijan) recognized each other's territorial integrity in clear terms. And for the first time, it is probably very important that Armenia declared that the territory of Azerbaijan also includes Karabakh. This was said Tuesday by Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, during the European Parliament debates on the situation created by Azerbaijan's blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh.

"It is the first time that the leader of Armenia, in this case [PM Nikol] Pashinyan, says this unequivocally. What he said during the press conference on May 22, regarding the recognition of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and Karabakh, was completely unambiguous," the EU foreign policy chief stressed.

In this regard, he expressed hope that Azerbaijan will accept the message of the Armenian PM and send the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh "a positive narrative with a clear message about their rights and security, that they will be fully respected."

"This is one of the messages of the [planned peace] agreement, which should go in parallel with other points of the negotiation process," Borrell added.
