It's no secret that along with all ongoing talks, Azerbaijan constantly tries to use force to change the course of the talks, disrupt them, and ultimately impose on Armenia the solutions that it, and maybe only it, wants. This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan at the National Assembly of Armenia Wednesday, adding, however, that this is not the first such manifestation.

"It is another matter that we and the international community must take a very sharp position. Either we negotiate in good faith to reach mutually acceptable solutions, or if it is through the use of force, such a process is unacceptable to us [i.e. Armenia]. We hope it is also unacceptable to the international community," he said.

Mirzoyan stated that Armenia's internationally recognized borders must remain inviolable, the country's territorial integrity must be restored, and the international community must play a role in this matter.

"There is also a new nuance in the case of Yeraskh [village of Armenia’s Ararat Province], specifically. It was previously announced that a metallurgical plant is being built there, and according to preliminary assessments, it will considerably contribute to the economic development of Armenia. And here, Azerbaijan first came up with false environmental accusations, after which Armenian refutation was heard. After this statement of the Armenian side, the Azerbaijani side is trying to disrupt this plan—in this case—by using force again. This is not only an encroachment on Armenia's borders, it is not only a violation of the ceasefire, but also by making purely baseless accusations, putting false justifications, to undermine a program that can contribute to the economic development of Armenia," emphasized Armenian FM.

Ararat Mirzoyan added that many times the leadership of Azerbaijan, in the presence of other actors, undertook an additional obligation not to resort to the use of force.

"Today, the EU [civilian] monitoring mission [in Armenia] left for that part of Yeraskh. Tomorrow, at our invitation, representatives of the international diplomatic corps accredited in Armenia will also be there, and we will keep the issue in the center of their attention," the Armenian FM said.
