The situation is normal in Yeraskh, people are harvesting, working, living as normal, there is activity in the village. Saro Ayvazyan, head of Yeraskh village of Armenia’s Ararat Province, told this to reporters Thursday in this rural community.

Referring to the recent incident, the village prefect said that Azerbaijanis had fired for 10 to 15 minutes at the metallurgical plant under construction in Yeraskh.

"They targeted the facility and, with that, they want to affect so that the facility is not built. It has been six to seven months since the construction work started. There has been no shooting in this direction for more than a year; this was the first time," he said.

According to Ayvazyan, however, they are definitely in favor of building the aforesaid factory.

As for the fact that Azerbaijanis will often try to obstruct the work of this factory, he responded: "There can be no such thing if our government prevents [it]."

When asked if he is in favor of signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the Yeraskh prefect gave a positive answer.

"Definitely. We are losing our youth, we don't need that," he said.

The Ministry of Defense of Armenia announced Tuesday that the Azerbaijani side opened fire in the direction of the metallurgical plant being built with foreign investment in Yeraskh. And as a result, two Indian citizens were wounded.

Ambassadors, military attachés, and diplomats from about 40 countries visited Yeraskh village Thursday to get familiarized with the consequences of the shots fired from the Nakhichevan section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on Wednesday and Tuesday. Among these foreign diplomats are the ambassadors of the European Union, France, Germany, China, and several other countries.
