Armenia's lawyers have announced a one-day strike Monday to raise their voice of protest against police violence against them.
On June 7, lawyer Karen Alaverdyan was assaulted by the police in a Yerevan police station after he tried to prevent police violence against his client.
Earlier, a case of such violence also occurred against lawyers Marzpet Avagyan and Emanuel Ananyan. This incident took place at a Yerevan police precinct, where these lawyers were representing the interests of their minor client.
Armenia's lawyers stage protests on a regular basis. They presented a TV to the Prosecutor General in order to inform her about the cases of violence, they went to the Ministry of Internal Affairs building, during which one of the lawyers came with a bulletproof vest and a helmet, and they presented their letter of demand to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the demands of the lawyers, the policemen who used violence should be fired.
