The leading, world-famous Shell brand in the fuel market has already entered the Armenian market. The opening of the first two gasoline stations of this brand took place Thursday at 6/3 and 15/1 of Artashat Highway in Yerevan.
The licensed representative of the Shell brand in Armenia is Royal Oil Company. The official ceremony of the opening of these gasoline stations was attended by Armenian state officials—Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan and Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Tigran Avinyan—as well as representatives of the company from abroad, including Joanna Kuenssberg, VP Corporate Relations MENA & CIS at Shell International BV, and Kai-Uwe Witterstein, General Manager Licensed Markets at Shell Brands International AG.
Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said the entry of this global giant into Armenia is important for the country's economy. "The services provided by our companies in this field do not meet the accepted standards in the world. With Shell brand's entry into Armenia, our companies will raise their standards to the level of this company in a short time. We see that in the near future the domain of gasoline stations will change completely," Kerobyan told reporters.
"There was a need for qualitatively new fuel on the Armenian market, as well as new approaches and standards for service at fuel stations, so after long studying the international experience, the activities of various organizations and the offers of the world's leading companies, we chose Shell. At global level, the experience and capabilities gained by Shell over decades will undoubtedly increase the level of quality and services on our market, making them more competitive, fair, and free," said Gevorg Harutyunyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Royal Oil Company, speaking to reporters.
"While expanding our network, we look to countries that are promising. Armenia is such a country because consumers here want to get quality products. We are very proud to partner with Royal Oil in Armenia, bringing our excellence in products and services to Armenian motorists. This is the first of many stations that will open in the coming months and years we can’t wait to see the Shell brand in Armenian cities and on major roads throughout the country", Kai-Uwe Witterstein told reporters.
According to the collaboration agreement, fuel will be imported to Armenia from the European countries where Shell has an oil refining industry or other partnerships. Initially, the fuel will be imported from Romania and Greece, then, as the company notes, the geographical scope of this collaboration will increase and some other European countries will be included. Each batch of imported fuel has its own certificate of origin indicating which country is the supplier.
The Armenian consumer will have access to Shell's latest grade V-Power fuel. This innovative development of the company 100% cleans the important parts of the vehicle’s engine and completely rejuvenates it. Shell V-Power is the only fuel trusted and recommended by world leaders such as Scuderia Ferrari, BMW M series, and Ducati.
Shell offers its customers low-emission products and services: biofuel, electric vehicle charging, hydrogen and various gaseous fuels such as liquefied natural gasoline. Shell is represented in about 80 markets of the world, and has 46,000 stations. It is also a leader in retail trade adjacent to gasoline stations. Up to 32 million customers visit Shell stations daily to purchase fuel, various products, including beverages and fresh food, to change vehicle lubricants, and to use car wash services. Shell stations sell 450 million cups of coffee, 1.5 billion cold drinks, and more than 1 billion snacks every year. Royal Oil company, which is engaged in the import of high-quality European fuel, retail and wholesale sales, plans to open about 25 Shell gasoline stations in various parts of Armenia in the next five years in collaboration with Shell, and with the aim of creating a network of new generation gasoline stations in the country.
