There is an assumption circulating today that needs to be reviewed. It is that as if what is happening today is also the wish of the international community, it is their coercion, and all this is done under their pressure. Armenia’s former foreign minister Vartan Oskanian told this to reporters Tuesday, with respect to the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.

"This assumption should be completely reviewed and given a new perception. Yes, it is desirable for the international community that the Nagorno-Karabakh issue be resolved; but believe [me], the international community is not that interested in how it will be resolved. They are going on the road that has been opened before them. And they take that road which is easy for the resolution of the issue," Oskanian said.

"Today, [Armenia’s PM] Nikol Pashinyan is showing the international community the easiest road: to hand over Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan. Of course, the international community will support Nikol Pashinyan to reach this conclusion. The moment the Armenian authorities change the nature of the [respective] negotiations [with Azerbaijan] under a new wording, believe [me] there will be a drastic change in the position of the international community," Armenia’s ex-FM stated.

According to him, if the Armenian side makes a convincing and logical argument without exaggeration before the international community, the whole nature and content of these negotiations will change.
