President Vahagn Khachaturyan on Monday received the Egyptian Ambassador to Armenia, Serenade Gamil, the President's office informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

President Khachaturyan congratulated the ambassador and, on her behalf, the friendly people of Egypt, on their upcoming national holiday, Revolution Day anniversary, and wished for continued development and prosperity.

Also, the Armenian president expressed his wish that the leadership of the two countries do everything possible to further strengthen and develop the centuries-old Armenian-Egyptian friendship.

Ambassador Gamil, for her part, thanked for the warm welcome and congratulations.

"We are very proud of the great attention and care given to the deepening of Armenian-Egyptian relations," she added, in particular.

During the meeting, a wide range of issues aimed at the further promotion of cooperation in domains of bilateral interest were discussed. Both sides emphasized the continuous development of the high-level political dialogue between Armenia and Egypt. The positive impact of mutual visits on the emergence of new interests and closer ties in the economic sphere and business environment of the two countries was emphasized.

At the talk, views were exchanged on the avenues and prospects of direct flights between Yerevan and Cairo. Also , the holding of the next meeting of the Armenian-Egyptian intergovernmental commission scheduled for this fall was stressed by both sides.

Emphasis was placed on the promotion of efforts aimed at the full realization of the existing potential of effective interaction between Armenia and Egypt in economic, high-tech, renewable energy, health care, and several other sectors.
