Many illogical and incomprehensible things are happening, especially on the European platform, and Charles Michel's statements deepened our concerns even more. Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Minister of State Gurgen Nersisyan stated this on the air of "Factor of Power" program of Armenian News-NEWS.am, referring to the statement of European Council President Charles Michel after the meeting of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Brussels, where he welcomed Azerbaijan's proposal to provide humanitarian aid to Artsakh through the Aghdam motorway.

"They have deliberately put us [i.e. Artsakh] before a humanitarian disaster, and started forcing humanitarian aid, while humanitarian aid is not forced. We have many reasons that make a reliable relationship and contact with Azerbaijan impossible. Azerbaijan, which is killing and threatening to kill our citizens, is ready to bring and give humanitarian medicine to our people. How can, for example, bring baby food from Azerbaijan and give it to our children, bring food for our pregnant women and the elderly? I want to ask those who make such a proposal: are you really thinking and speaking seriously? It is the same as saying tomorrow, let the patients from Artsakh go to Azerbaijan for treatment. I want to ask the international mediators if this is a serious conversation and approach. If they are so sincere and concerned about the people of Artsakh, there is a simple formula: [re]open the Lachin corridor, ensure that Azerbaijan fulfills its obligations under the November 9[, 2020] statement," said Nersisyan.

He recalled that Toivo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia,  later stated that the Aghdam motorway cannot be an alternative to the Lachin corridor and the latter must be reopened.
