Pashinyan clearly says and acknowledges that Artsakh is a part of Azerbaijan and will remain so, and there are no demands in return, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Vartan Oskanian said in a video message posted on Facebook.

“The thesis, the talk that there will be a dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert, is a formality, an attempt to throw dust in the eyes of the people. After signing the document, as soon as the dialogue begins, consider that Artsakh has already dissolved in Azerbaijan and the issue is closed,” he said.

According to the former FM, what Pashinyan is doing now seems to be the easiest solution.

“Giving is not even easy - what Pashinyan is doing is simply unrealistic. In addition to being incomprehensible and unacceptable, it is also unrealistic. He wants to give away what does not belong to him, he wants to give up the territory that belonged to the people of Artsakh for thousands of years, Armenians have always lived there. He wants to give up the territory that has never been part of independent Azerbaijan. He wants to give away the territory that in Soviet [Union] times had the status of an autonomous region, the territory that had been an independent political unit for the previous 30 years. He wants to give up this territory in such a way that it dissolves along with its people,” he noted.

Oskanian says that today not a single nation in the world renounces its right to self-determination, Armenians are the first: “Moreover, today there are more than 120 autonomous units in more than 50 countries of the world. That is why I say that what Pashinyan is doing is unrealistic.”
