Azerbaijan presents false facts and I don't know how to prove otherwise, Vera Khachatryan, the daughter of 68-year-old Vagif Khachatryan from Nagorno Karabakh, arrested by Azerbaijan while transported by the ICRC to Armenia for surgery, told reporters in front of the UN office in Yerevan.

"Recently they said that he was Samvel Babayan's driver. Dear friends, it is fake news. My father was not Samvel Babayan's driver ... Everything presented by the leadership of Azerbaijan is false. And the pictures that were spread on the Internet, where it is allegedly my father in his youth, have nothing to do with my father, it is not my father, I don't know whose picture they are posting,” she said during a protest in front of the UN Yerevan office.

Further, she said that the ICRC called them on the first day of his father’s arrest and informed that they visited him at one of the hospitals in Baku. Now, she added, her father has become an Azerbaijani prisoner.

“I appeal to everyone, even the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan. Check all the stuff you post, it has nothing to do with the truth. My father did not commit such crimes, he is not that kind of person in general," said Vera Khachatryan.

After Vagif Khachatryan, 68, was held by Azerbaijani State Border Service on Saturday, the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan announced that he was arrested. According to the accusation, Vagif Khachatryan allegedly created a criminal group in 1991 and participated in the crimes against the residents of Meshali village of Khojaly region.
