A meeting between Stepanakert and Baku was supposed to take place tomorrow, but Azerbaijan refused, Anti-Crisis Council under Artsakh President Tigran Petrosyan said live on Facebook.

“You know that Baku tried several times to force someone from Artsakh to go to Baku or Yevlakh for so-called negotiations. If they impose something like that, then I can imagine what kind of conversation there will be.

Against this background, the EU and the US are trying to organize a meeting in a third country. A meeting of representatives of public organizations of Artsakh and Azerbaijan was scheduled for August 1, according to initial information, in Sofia. Then, having learned about it, Russia entered the game, tried to advance. On July 25 Lavrov organized a meeting during which he called us a “minority group,” which is unacceptable and clearly demonstrates the current policy of the Russian authorities,” Petrosyan said.

According to him, with the mediation of the United States and Europe, on August 1, a meeting between representatives of Artsakh and Azerbaijan was to be held in Bratislava. However, 2 days ago, Baku refused to meet, without explanation. “Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, representatives from outside will arrive in Yerevan, discussions will take place,” noted the head of the Anti-Crisis Council, promising to tell the details after these discussions are completed.

“Now Moscow is offering to go to a meeting in Yevlakh, that is, Moscow is organizing a meeting in Azerbaijan, while Baku has begun kidnapping Artsakh citizens who participated in the liberation struggle, the example of Vagif Khachatryan is right before my eyes. Moscow's proposal under these conditions is a mockery of us,” Petrosyan stressed.

He said they are now waiting for proposals from the United States and Europe, then they will decide what to do.

According to the circulated information, the Stepanakert-Baku dialogue should take place in the coming days in one of the European cities, with the mediation of the United States.
