Information is being disseminated in the mass media that, allegedly, the Azerbaijani side notified the Russian peacekeepers "in advance" about today's "antiterrorist operation" in Nagorno-Karabakh. Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian foreign ministry, wrote this on Telegram.
"It is not true. The information was delivered to the Russian [peacekeeping] contingent [in Nagorno-Karabakh] minutes before the start of military operations," she added.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan released a statement that "Azerbaijan has launched a local antiterrorist measure for the purpose of restoring the constitutional order. The Russian peacekeeping contingent [in Nagorno-Karabakh] and the joint Russian-Turkish monitoring center were informed about the measures taken.”
