We will soon have a new ambassador to the Russian Federation. Armenia’s National Assembly (NA) speaker, Alen Simonyan, announced this during a joint press conference with the visiting US delegation, led by Senator Roger Wicker, in Yerevan Friday.

"I hope we will have a new ambassador [to Russia], the [respective] candidacy has already been submitted, we are waiting for the appointment. For the remaining comments, I think the [Armenian] MFA's comment will be much more appropriate," said Simonyan.

And to the question whether Armenia’s new ambassador to Russia has already been confirmed, the NA speaker responded: "The rest—with the [Armenian] MFA because I can't get too involved in the MFA paperwork, the MFA work."

To note, the matter is about NA ruling majority faction MP Gurgen Arsenyan. According to press reports, his respective agrément has already been prepared, and he will soon be appointed Armenia's ambassador to Russia.
