There is no process yet related to border delimitation in Gegharkunik Province. Gegharkunik governor Karen Sargsyan told this to reporters after Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government.
The governor assured that he does not know when the process of border delimitation will begin in their province.
"If border delimitation processes start in Gegharkunik, they [i.e. the Azerbaijanis] must leave the territories of Gegharkunik they occupied in 2021 and [20]22. I have said so before. My confidence is that border delimitation means the two countries recognize their borders; and in that case, they will go back and return our occupied territories," said the governor.
To a reporter's remark that the Azerbaijanis have not withdrawn from some parts of Kirants village of Tavush Province, the governor of Gegharkunik assured that they will pull out as a result of the border delimitation process.
As for the steps taken by the Armenian authorities in this and some other matters, Sargsyan does not agree with the views that they have failed. According to him, the Armenian government is moving forward by fulfilling all the tasks set before it.
