At the meeting of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers held in Moscow, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan supported the project to recognize the Armenian city of Meghri as the cultural capital of the CIS in 2026. This was reported by the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

The Council of Ministers held a session ahead of the meeting of the leaders of the states. Speaking about the documents adopted as a result of the meeting in a narrow and then expanded format with Armenia's participation, Mirzoyan singled out the decision on Meghri, noting the ancient cultural heritage of the city.

Speaking about the events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War in 2025, the Minister emphasized the contribution of the Armenian people in the fight against fascism, racial discrimination and intolerance.

Regional stability and security issues were also discussed. Mirzoyan presented the main processes on the settlement of relations with Azerbaijan, including the work on signing a peace treaty.
