Armenia actively participated in the expert agreement of the draft statement and made recommendations regarding the text. Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated this at Wednesday’s press briefing—and responding to a Russian reporter's question as to what document was signed by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at the meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council on Monday in Moscow.

"At the last summit of CIS foreign ministers, Armenia refused to sign the statement on the principles of ensuring security in Eurasia. Well, the statement that condemns any attempt of forceful violence that disrupts legitimate cooperation in Eurasia. Why, according to you, did Yerevan take this decision?" asked the aforesaid reporter, who is regularly and investigatively interested in the affairs of Armenia.

"The mentioned document was adopted on October 7 at the meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council. It defines approaches to the formation of an equally indivisible security architecture of Eurasia, the settlement of existing ones, and the prevention of new regional conflicts, etc., by the efforts of the Eurasian countries themselves, based on the principles of the UN Charter.
