The topic of today's BRICS and Global South meeting is the construction of a better world; and in this context, the Crossroads of Peace transport and communication project announced by the Armenian government fits well. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in his address at the BRICS summit Thursday in Kazan, Russia.

"The essence of the project is as follows: Armenia is ready and interested in organizing the passage of vehicles, cargo, passengers, pipelines, cable lines through its territory.

It is the shortest route through the Black Sea and the Persian Gulf through the territory of Iran, Armenia, and Georgia. It is the North-South direction.

It is also the shortest route between the Caspian and Marmara seas through the territory of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey. It is the East-West direction.

This route can be used also for transport and communication link between Azerbaijan and [its exclave] the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Taking this approach into account, we [i.e. Armenia] offered Azerbaijan simplified border and customs control mechanisms, as well as providing additional security measures, taking into account full respect for the sovereignty and jurisdiction of both countries.

Armenia is able to ensure and fully ensure the passage of goods, vehicles, and people through its territory. That is our desire, our obligation, and we guarantee it and will always guarantee it.

All claims that Armenia has somehow allegedly agreed that a third country will ensure the security of communication in its sovereign territory, or that something like this is stipulated by any document, do not correspond to reality," Pashinyan said.
