Simplified customs and transit procedures between Armenia and Azerbaijan may involve the exchange of information on cargo being transported. Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, Rustam Badasyan, informed about this while speaking with reporters at the National Assembly Monday—an explaining what "simplified procedure" means in general.

"For example, there is a lot of information that countries can exchange in advance. For example, our experience with the Republic of Georgia: we send our export data in advance, they send theirs, and the process becomes easier during the import phase because they or we have certain information," Badasyan said.

According to him, depending on the specific situation, the solutions can be various. Countries can exchange scanned images in advance to neutralize the further risks. There are also other solutions based on modern digital platforms.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on October 24 that Armenia offered Azerbaijan mechanisms for simplified border and customs control procedures for a link to the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhichevan.
