Criminal accountability for genocide is of great importance, and the goal here is to do more for the people who survived the genocide, to create good conditions for them, for their rehabilitation. Henry Theriault, Vice President for Science and Chair of the Faculty of Philosophy at Worcester State University (USA), stated this at the 5th Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide, in Yerevan Friday.

The groups that carried out the genocide must be punished, and people must be rest assured that the people who carry it out are held accountable, Theriault said.

If Turkey was forced in time to make reparations to Armenia, which would have provided security guarantees also to Armenia, then in 2020, when Azerbaijan started its military aggression, Turkish weapons could not have been used in order to help them because this would have meant that Turkey would have been obligated by that document to provide security guarantees to Armenia, Theriault added.
