Armenia's membership in the European Union (EU), to which Yerevan has announced its aspiration, is incompatible with simultaneous participation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov told a press conference Tuesday.
Lavrov recalled the statement by Alexei Overchuk, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister who is engaged in the development of the EAEU, about the incompatibility of the EAEU and the EU.
"Because they are two different free-trade zones, two different systems of waiving or reducing duties and tariffs; they do not match," the Russian FM added.
