We see what is happening, we follow, but there is nothing to react to, Armenian National Assembly (NA) speaker Alen Simonyan told this to reporter in the NA Tuesday—and referring to the ongoing "trial" of Armenian prisoners of war in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

"It's sad what's happening. Let's hope that after the end of the trial, it will provide an opportunity to somehow bring those people back [to Armenia], to have a discussion about their release, or to somehow resolve the matter," said Simonyan.

Regarding to the claims of former Nagorno-Karabakh officials that Armenia does not make sufficient efforts in this regard, Alen Simonyan said as follows, in particular: "The authorities of Armenia are one, and yes, we must make decisions.”

The NA speaker disagreed with the view that it was by the decision of Armenia’s authorities that Nagorno-Karabakh was recognized as part of Azerbaijan and the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh were left without a homeland.

"It’s not by the decision we [i.e. Armenia’s authorities] made. Karabakh was never recognized by Armenia as an independent state. Armenia does not have and did not have any territorial claim to any of its neighbors," said Alen Simonyan.
