Armenia is a natural strategic partner and ally of Russia, which is interested in the development of neighborly relations. This was announced by Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov during the talks with his visiting Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, in Moscow on Tuesday.

"Last year was difficult for bilateral relations. Today, frankly speaking, we are determined in the spirit of the atmosphere maintained by our leaders, President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, to discuss all the matters that are on the agenda, which are important to you, which are important to the Russian Federation.

I am convinced that we will now constructively consider all existing problems. We [i.e. Russia] have always appreciated and continue to appreciate the fraternal ties with the Armenian people, Armenia, our natural strategic partner and ally," Lavrov said.
