Armenia's deputy foreign minister Vahan Kostanyan disagrees with the view that the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace talks have reached a deadlock.

"In any case, a meeting of the border delimitation commissions [of the two countries] took place, there is an agreement that a new meeting shall take place in the near future," Kostanyan told reporters after the Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government Thursday.

Regarding the negotiations on the peace treaty, the Armenian deputy FM said that Armenia has been waiting for a long time for responses to its proposals submitted to Azerbaijan.

"We hope we will receive [them] in a short time so that the process can continue," he added.

Also, Kostanyan said that Armenia, as before, continues to be constructive and engaged in the negotiations.

In response to the remark that Azerbaijan continues to speak in a threatening language and make demands to Armenia, Kostanyan said such statements are aimed at ensuring a tension escalation backdrop in the region.

“Armenia will not give in to such provocations, we will continue to be constructive in the negotiations,” he added.

And when asked what Armenia will do if Azerbaijan attacks it and attempts to seize by force the “corridor” it demands, the deputy FM replied that Armenia must defend its territorial integrity with all the tools at its disposal.
