What is the justification that the November 9 document can prevent a possible war? Security Council secretary Armen Grigoryan asked this at the press briefing after the Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government Thursday—and referring to the claims made by opposition figures that if the November 9, 2020 trilateral statement, in particular, its 9th point, is not returned to, Azerbaijan can take the corridor via Armenia by war.

“Armenia was part of the November 9 statement, and we have seen what happened in Nagorno-Karabakh. What is its argument? How can people bring such an argument? The November 9 statement, in addition to that point, has eight more articles, with which we have seen what happened. How can anyone, be a politician or not, not accept that reality and say, ‘We will return for another article?’ We may return and the same path will be repeated, which occurred in connection with those eight [articles]. That is why I do not share that opinion at all,” said Armen Grigoryan.

And to the question, in that case why Armenia does not withdraw its signature from that statement, the Security Council secretary replied: "That is a matter for another discussion. There is no other article related to the November 9 statement—and this is the de facto reality."
