It is not that we have made a proposal to Azerbaijan, let's say a negative response has come, and with that the discussion is over. The discussion process is going, there have been 12 cases like that, and that document has come, and today we already have at least 15 agreed points, which is a great achievement. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, told this to reporters at the NA Tuesday.

“If you remember, from the very beginning, when the conversation began about the peace treaty [with Azerbaijan], only five internationally accepted points were being discussed, while today it’s about 15 points,” Simonyan said.

Referring to the possibility of escalation of tension with Azerbaijan, he said: “We must always do everything in connection with creating reasons for escalation so that there is no such occasion and reason. The Republic of Armenia has repeatedly stated that it has no territorial claims [from Azerbaijan] and is very committed to its commitments and agreements, and will consistently continue the work to resolve all problematic issues. There is a risk of escalation, but I believe there is no and there should not be reason or occasion for escalation.”

The Armenian NA speaker noted that we should always proceed from the most negative assumption that anything can happen at any moment.

“We should not rule out anything, we should not be sure that everything will be this way, that is how it will be, this working process should always continue. I do not want to go into too much detail about what the prime minister said because you will have the opportunity to ask him questions, and our opposition figures will also have the opportunity to ask him questions this week,” Alen Simonyan emphasized.
