The situation on the border with Azerbaijan is relatively stable, Armenian deputy defense minister Arman Sargsyan assured reporters on Monday.

Sargsyan dismissed the reports about shootings, arguing that the Ministry Defense (MoD) of Armenia “is open, and information is provided as quickly and objectively as possible.”

“If there is a problem, we present [it]. At the moment the situation is relatively calm Shootings sometimes happen., but they are few and not targeted,” he said.

According to him, there is no buildup of Azerbaijani military forces on the Armenian border.

But the deputy defense minister’s answers did not satisfy the reports, and they continued to ask questions about the numerous cases of shooting and the fact that shots are heard at night in Armenia’s border villages, and the number of shots cannot be called “few.”

In response, Sargsyan stated that the Armenian MoD is fulfilling the task of ensuring security, and the situation at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border is relatively stable.
