The Armenian prime minister is ready to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan. Deputy speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia and the latter’s special representative for the normalization of relations with Turkey, Ruben Rubinyan, stated this while speaking with reporters Monday.

Recalling that the text of this peace treaty has been agreed upon, Rubinyan stated: “We [i.e. Armenia] are ready to sign [it] as soon as possible. That is, the [Armenian] prime minister is ready to sign, and we have proposed that Azerbaijan begin consultations on the venue and time of signing.”

Commenting on the recent meeting at the level of Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers in Antalya, Turkey, Rubinyan noted that nothing new was announced, and the parties presented their positions.

And asked what has caused Azerbaijan to delay the process, Rubinyan noted that “there is no need for comment, everyone knows that Azerbaijan is not the most constructive country, the rest is in Azerbaijan’s court.”
