This is one of the most striking examples. How can a word or fact be distorted and presented in a diametrically opposite light? This was stated by foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan during the Armenian National Assembly’s question-and-answer session with the government Wednesday—and referring to the recent statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia, and the reactions to it.

“One of the media outlets had asked us whether what [Azerbaijani president] Ilham Aliyev said was correct. We had said that we were trying to address the rights and security issues of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh within the framework of the Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiations, including by way of creating international guarantees. We were confident that in the event of the creation of that mechanism, the establishment of dialogue, it would be possible to resolve certain issues. It is a fact that after the forcible displacement and the publicizing of the well-known document on the dissolution [of Nagorno-Karabakh], that agenda can no longer be continued for the simple reason that no one [Armenian] lives there [anymore], there is no Armenian so that we talk about rights,” said Mirzoyan.

He noted that this was just the reaction of the Armenian MFA, and stated that he was surprised why discussions were held about the fact that they had removed the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) issue from the agenda.

"I repeat, the [Armenian] government, led by Prime Minister Pashinyan, has done everything to address the issue of the rights and security of these people in some way. And now to accuse us of removing this matter from the agenda... in the conditions that when we were talking about it, they were accusing us," the Armenian FM added, in particular.
