At Wednesday’s 30 Cabinet session of the Armenian government, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the draft decision included in the package of unreported matters off the session—and which relates to the allocation of about 52 million drams (approx. US$133,730) from the reserve fund to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the opening of the Armenian embassy in Oman.

According to Pashinyan, the opening of this embassy is important from the point of view of intensifying Armenia's foreign policy.

"Our network of embassies in the world is expanding, which is important from the point of view of implementing our balanced and balancing foreign policy," he said.

In this context, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan noted that there is a huge potential for deepening both political dialogue and economic relations in the relations between Armenia and Oman.

Separately, Pashinyan highlighted the fact that the premises of Armenia’s embassies being opened will not be rented, but purchased.

“There should be a long-term policy that we have our own buildings because this is Armenia’s property, estate in those places and cities where real estate prices are continuously growing and will continue to grow. This is a justified investment,” he said.

The premier added that the number of foreign embassies in Armenia is increasing, too, and that this is important in terms of increasing Armenia’s international visibility.

Ararat Mirzoyan, for his part, informed that in the next one or two months, Armenia will have an embassy in Budapest, Hungary, as well.

He added that a building for the Armenian embassy in Belgium was also been purchased, and renovation work is to be carried out there. But this surprised Pashinyan. And the FM recalled that this was done by the government's decision.

"But I didn't know that it had already been done. If it was reported at the government, then I wasn't at that meeting. Otherwise, I would remember," Pashinyan responded.
