One of Europe's leading budget airlines, Wizz Air, will open its base in Zvartnots International Airport of Yerevan and announced eight new flight destinations from Armenia to Europe.

Thus, together with the nine existing destinations, Wizz Air will have a total of 17 flights from Armenia to ten countries. Wizz Air’s first aircraft will be deployed at Zvartnots International Airport on October 1, the second—at the end of October, more precisely from October 26, announced Roland Tischner, CEO of Wizz Air Hungary, at a press conference in Yerevan.

Starting in October, Wizz Air will operate direct flights from Yerevan to Prague, Hamburg, Nice, Paphos, Naples, Bucharest, Bari, and Memmingen.

The respective airline tickets are already on sale. Prices start at 29.99 euros. Tickets at Wizz Air's suggested prices can be purchased only on its official website wizzair.com and through the airline's mobile app.

Starting in October, the number of flights to Dortmund will be increased, bringing it up to four flights per week.

Wizz Air has been operating flights to and from Armenia since 2020. And as a result of the opening of new routes, up to 1.2 million airline tickets are planned to be sold annually.

Thanks to the Wizz Air base, about 100 new jobs will be created in Armenia for pilots and flight attendants alone. And up to 1,000 indirect jobs will be created in the tourism and service sectors.

Wizz Air's in the Armenian market is about 21 percent, the flights are working very well and are in high demand. This is an opportunity to further increase the airline’s presence. The Caucasus is a strategic market for Wizz Air. The airline is going to review the network, existing flights, said Roland Tischner.

Modern Airbus A 321 neo aircraft will be deployed at Zvartnots. Wizz Air's new aircraft will reduce CO₂ emissions and fuel consumption by 20%, and noise by 50%.

Wizz Air, which was recognized as one of the ten safest airlines in the world in 2024, will become the main carrier at Zvartnots through its Yerevan base.
