To think that Europe can solve any security issue in Armenia is naive. There is no such thing. The second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, stated this in an interview with several media outlets.

According to him, French President Emmanuel Macron will make a nice statement, Armenians will be happy, maybe he will hug the prime minister of Armenia, as he loves to hug in general, and that will end everything.

"Now there are three states that can be actors on the ground in this region: Russia, Turkey, Iran. Now which country is closer to us [i.e. Armenia] in soul?  With which country are our economic ties stronger, have history and scope? Which country is the most powerful, with economic and military potential? Which country is closer to us in terms of cultural code? These are questions whose answers have no alternative," Kocharyan said, insinuating Russia.

The second president emphasized that a complementary policy should be pursued, but not “the splits,” by Armenia.

“This is not the case when we have many alternatives. Discussions related to Europe are meaningless, to which Europe does not even respond. They have one objective: to do harm to Russia.  It is not a strategy, but becoming a tool in someone else’s hands. And is there any other state [other than Russia] that is more interested in Armenia than any other country?” said Robert Kocharyan.
