A demonstration in support of the Armenian Apostolic Church was held in front of the main building of the government of Armenia on Thursday—and in protest of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent harsh criticisms of the Armenian Apostolic Church and its high-ranking clergy, including the Catholicos of All Armenians.

“The ‘ambassador of death’ wearing a cloak with the inscription ‘They are waiting for Nikol in hell’ has come from hell, has come to explain that it is time to take Nikol. He presents Nikol’s sins: blasphemy, antichrist, robbery, betrayal, evil, deceit, defeat, and depravity,” the organizer of the demonstration told reporters.

She noted that this demonstration calls on everyone to come out to fight.

“Nikol crossed the last red line. I understand that everyone is waiting for the Armenian Apostolic Church to take the right steps and lead the entire struggle. We ask the church to at least hold a march, so that, according to the ancient tradition, they exorcise this evil that has taken over the government of the Republic of Armenia,” the organizer of the demonstration said.

The protesters added that some forces are deliberately suppressing the protests, but it is possible to restore the spirit of struggle. And if the opposition is unable to fight, it should give up its mandates and leave the parliament, they noted.
