There are sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia that are now controlled by Azerbaijan. It’s about the 208 square kilometers. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told this to reporters in parliament Thursday.

“We have said several times that we see the issue of returning these territories to Armenia within the framework of the border delimitation process. Now the meaning of border delimitation is that the two sides sit down with the terrain, maps, which are acceptable to both sides, with any legal acts that may have been adopted in different regions, which are relevant and are also acceptable to both sides. With those papers, maps, pictures, they go to the terrain. For example, in our case, from north to south, and look. Where this land belongs to the right side, but is under the control of the left side, it is recorded that it must be returned to the right side. And vice versa, where the territories belong to the left side, but are now under the control of the right side, they must be returned to the left side, respectively. Now we shall do this,” Mirzoyan said.

And to the question as to when this will happen, taking into account that Azerbaijan declares that it will not withdraw from these territories, the Armenian FM replied: “If you want to say, ‘Wow, that process has stopped, has reached an impasse, is not going on, will not happen,’ it is not like that at all. A discussion is underway today as well at least between the heads of those commissions. And I hope that after reaching a certain understanding, that process will continue on the ground.”
