We are aware of Baku's concerns—and legitimate concerns—regarding the activities of the EU mission in Armenia. Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated this at Wednesday’s press briefing.

"It is well known what the employees of the so-called ‘[monitoring] mission’ are doing. They spy on Armenia's neighboring countries. Of course, they do not report to Yerevan and do not contribute to any stability in the region.

As for the Russian military base located in [Gyumri city of] Armenia, we have not received any signals from Yerevan about its possible taking out. The [Armenian] republic's officials confirm, including publicly, that such matters are not on the agenda. Yerevan understands that the Russian military presence is an important element of the security architecture of the region. The location and activities of the base are regulated by relevant bilateral documents between Armenia and Russia. This matter has never been raised by anyone in the context, or scope of our cooperation with Azerbaijan," Zakharova noted.
