Diplomats and clergy are discussing the current conflict between the Armenian authorities and the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Before the discussion, Ambassador Vahagn Melikyan, a founding member of the Pan-Armenian Diplomatic Council, stated as follows to reporters: “By taking a step in the enemy's favor, today's [Armenian] authorities themselves have initiated this movement. Naturally, they must show with manipulative approaches that this is not against the church, but against individuals, targeting His Holiness the Patriarch [i.e. the Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II] and [other] high-ranking [Armenian] clergy. But the trend is very clear, there is nothing to hide. This is directly aimed at the very institution of the [Armenian Apostolic] Church. This is aimed at reducing the resistance of the Armenian people.”
