A special session of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia is being held Thursday, at the initiative of the ruling majority Civil Contract Faction. This is the second NA special session of the day.

There is only one matter on the agenda: the draft NA statement "On the inadmissibility of seizing state power by force and the protection of democracy."

The NA, as the Civil Contract believes, should give its assessment of the "fact of planned terrorism against the Republic of Armenia."

The NA opposition, however, has boycotted the debates on this matter. Artsvik Minasyan, secretary of the opposition "Armenia" Faction, stated that this draft statement is nothing more than interference in the work of the investigative bodies investigating the cases of activists of the Sacred Struggle movement, against whom the aforementioned statement is directed.
