As a result of the documents signed in the US on August 8, roads through Azerbaijan will be open for Armenia, as the unblocking is a bilateral process. Davit Khudatyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, stated this at a press briefing on Thursday.

He added that at the moment these roads are not yet open, and therefore traveling along them is not yet possible for Armenian citizens.

“However, we are moving at an accelerated pace to make them accessible to all citizens of Armenia,” added the Armenian official.

Khudatyan assured that as a result of the documents signed in the US, Armenia will have unallocated roads, thus preserving its territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence, and said this a very important factor in the development of the Armenian state.

The minister said that he is not concerned that this process may be unilateral, and expressed confidence that the document signed in the US clearly defines the principle of reciprocity, which eliminates such concerns.

"The signed documents are a guarantee for maintaining the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, and reciprocity," the Armenian official concluded.
