Armenia has informed us that no military personnel from other countries will be on the border; this is important to us, the Iranian consul general in Kapan, Armenia, Morteza Abedin Varamin, told reporters.

“It doesn’t matter who says what. What are important to us are Armenia’s statements. The Armenian authorities have announced us that the borders will remain inviolable, and this ‘red line’ of Iran will be respected. The Iran-Armenia border has a history of thousands of years, and we [i.e. Iran] consider it a border of friendship and tolerance. We have never encountered problems on that border,” Varamin noted.

“There have always been warm relations between the two countries. The interference by external forces will not benefit the countries of the region. Armenia’s position is important to us. Senior Iranian officials will study everything in detail," added the Iranian consul general in Kapan, and clarified that Armenia's borders are under Armenian control.
