When the number one tool for ensuring your security is the army, then you have no security. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in his address at the Comprehensive Security & Resilience International Conference – 2025 that kicked off Monday in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan.
“The army should not even be the second, third, fourth, fifth tool; the army should be the last of [ensuring] security. We [i.e. Armenia] have not even noticed what a burden we have placed on the shoulders of our soldiers,” Pashinyan added.
In his words, if we want the army to protect us, we must protect the army; and if we want the soldiers to protect us, we must first protect the soldiers.
