The “Trump Route” assumes unblocking for Armenia. But it also assumes unblocking of Azerbaijan through the territory of Armenia. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in his address at the Comprehensive Security & Resilience International Conference – 2025 that kicked off Monday in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan.

“Let’s imagine a pipeline that passes through the territory of Armenia, it doesn’t matter where it goes. Is this a factor for peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan? Of course it is a factor. The absence of this factor opens up room for a problem. Therefore, the ‘Trump Route’ project is one of such factors,” noted Pashinyan.

“Is there a security guarantee? Yes, there is such a guarantee—and it is peace. There cannot be any other security guarantee besides peace. But peace requires daily care, it should not be treated with disdain,” added the Armenian premier.

“Achieving and developing peace requires a certain tactic and strategy. There are issues that are extremely sensitive. For example, in our initial period, our perception is that we had to resolve the most sensitive issues in order to achieve peace. Then we realized that if we adopt this strategy, we would never achieve peace,” stated Pashinyan.

“When we talk about the occupation [by Azerbaijan] of the legitimate territories of the Republic of Armenia, do you know how many years of effort it required for me to say, nevertheless, we also have territories under our control, which according to the Alma-Ata Declaration are the territory of Azerbaijan, but are under our control? If we want peace, we must speak in these terms. Otherwise, there will never be peace,” said the Armenian PM.
